Eye Examination
We offer retinal imaging to ensure you have the most thorough eye examination
The word ‘examination’ or ‘test’ can often subconsciously strike fear into the hearts of many people. But when it comes to your eye check, you can rest assured that there’s nothing to worry about.
When you arrive at our practice you will be greeted by a member of our friendly team and invited to relax in our comfortable waiting area until your appointment time. Your optician will start off by asking you a few questions about your lifestyle, hobbies and medical history, which will help them to tailor your eye exam to your needs and ensure they make recommendations that will benefit you.
You will then be asked to complete a series of exercises designed to assess your visual acuity (how well you can see) as well as your eye health. These are not intended to be difficult or catch you out, but merely allow us to obtain an accurate representation of your vision and the condition of your eyes.
You will also have the opportunity to have the back of your eyes photographed
with our digital retinal imaging technology. This is a very quick and painless process but allows your optician to closely monitor your eye health through viewing up to 40% more of your retina (the back surface of your eye) than with hand-held equipment alone. By comparing your images from previous appointments, we are able to quickly identify even the tiniest changes in your eyes that could indicate the onset of a problem, before you are even aware of it.
Once your examination is complete, your optician will explain any findings, and you will be able to ask them about anything you’re unsure of. If your prescription has changed, or if you require eyewear for the first time, you will be handed over to our reassuringly knowledgeable and honest dispensing expert who will help you choose your new glasses. If there is no change in your prescription, we will simply service your existing glasses and make sure you leave with the screws tightened, lenses cleaned and frames fitting comfortably once more. Of course, you are more than welcome to browse our frame displays at any time – you might find a new pair of sunglasses amongst our ranges, or a second pair of specs for driving or the office!
